Former No. 2 overall pick Aidan Hutchinson is happy to be where he is. The Detroit Lions selected the former Michigan Wolverines standout in last year’s NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars had every opportunity to select Hutchinson, but they passed and went with Georgia’s Travon Walker instead.

If you asked Aidan, the former Michigan star is happy with how things went. The Jaguars and Lions are holding a joint practice this week in the leadup to the teams’ preseason matchup this weekend. A reporter asked Hutchinson how he felt about it all, and he had nothing but good things to say.

“I’m happy here. Very thankful, very thankful,” Hutchinson told reporters on Wednesday via AllLions. Hutchinson continued, “I mean, it all worked out. It was divine timing. The way things went was the way things were supposed to go.”

The words were not a shot at the Jaguars or the organization, or even Travon Walker. But it was the perfect situation for Hutchinson, so he could express his happiness now.

Last season, Aidan Hutchinson erupted on the scene in his rookie year. The Lions defensive end recorded 9.5 sacks, immediately helping the team’s defense. But the rookie’s efforts were outdone by New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner, who won the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award over Hutchinson.
