It looks like Brett Favre is facing some new issues related to his court battles related to the Mississippi welfare scandal as the Mississippi Department of Human Services is accusing the former NFL star of failing to produce text messages related to the case.

According to the court filings obtained by Front Office Sports, the Mississippi Department of Human Services claims that Brett Favre has failed to comply with discovery requests aimed at obtaining text messages related to the civil case filed over millions of misappropriated welfare funds.

The agency claims that Favre “has failed to answer any of this discovery,” and has produced none of the text messages requested by the agency.

“Despite being identified as the sender or recipient on the face of these text messages, Favre objected and claimed he could not verify many of these text messages’ authenticity,” MDHS lawyers wrote in the filing, according to Front Office Sports.

Since the lawsuit was filed back in May of 2022, the MDHS says that it has received about 330,000 documents from more than 40 defendants in the case. Favre, meanwhile, has only produced 24 pages of documents, none of which included text messages, even though those documents were specifically requested by the MDHS.

“His production contained no text messages, though MDHS specifically requested text messages with other defendants,” the agency’s legal team wrote, according to Front Office Sports.

It’s pretty brutal news for Favre as he continues his legal battles, and it led to plenty of reactions on social media as many people were reminded of Favre’s history of sending inappropriate text messages.
